CREAF

EuroGEO combines the contributions of European members of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), a partnership of more than 100 national governments, the European Commission and over 100 participating organisations, among them CREAF. 

The annual workshop brings together European stakeholders interested in and actively contributing to EuroGEO. This edition will focus on preparing the next journey for EuroGEO to align with the progress made and new needs arising in the European context, as well as to coordinate and strengthen its contribution to the post-2025 evolution of the GEO.

Researchers from the GRUMETS-UAB group, will participate as speakers in the citizen science and green deal-related sessions.

In particular, Joan Masó and Ivette Serral will participate as speakers in the sessions ‘Digital age – platforms and data spaces for the EU Green Deal - Part I’ and ‘Present and Future of Data Cubes - discussion forum’, explaining the AD4GD project - AllData4GreenDeal. Moreover, they will participate in the ‘Citizen science uptake in official data and decision ecosystems – establishing a new common practice’ workshop part of the ‘Enhancing the availability, accessibility and integration of in-situ Earth Observation data’ session, presenting ‘The Citizen Science community activity in GEO’ and in the discussion forum  ‘Biodiversity Action Group’.

In the context of InCASE project (funded by the EEA) Joan Masó and Alba Brobia will present a database of requirements for Earth Observation in-situ dataset (we call it G-reqs and this is the logo: https://g-reqs.grumets.cat/). This is an effort that, if adopted by GEO, will transform the approach about Earth Observation. Current GEO Platform focus on data providers and what is available. G-reqs focus on what users need and how they can get the datasets they need for decision making, scientific research or informed policy definition. This will be presented in the "Enhancing the availability, accessibility and integration of in-situ Earth Observation data" session.

In addition, Imma Serra and Joan Masó will present their findings on using different computing cloud facilities and research infrastructures where datacube approaches can be applied to analyse long series of Sentinel 2 imagery to derive phenology indices in the session "Present and Future of Data Cubes". With Kaori Otsu we will explore how EOSC can contribute to the EuroGEO iniciative.
