MONTCLIMA: Climate and natural hazards in the mountains of the Sudoe

Wednesday, November 23, 2022 to Thursday, November 24, 2022

This workshop is part of the final seminar of the SUDOE MONTCLIMA project and aims to share the experience and knowledge generated during the project's lifetime.

In particular, the nine project's partners, including CREAF, will share the new tools and methodologies they have developed to improve the management and prevention of 4 natural risks (floods, droughts, erosion and forest fires) in southwest European mountain areas. In addition, they will explain some results of the six pilot demonstration cases they have carried out.

Our researcher Eduard Pla, one of the project's members, will present the pilot case he developed in Montnegre Corredor with Diana Pascual, also a researcher at CREAF, with the collaboration of t'he Associació de Propietaris Forestals del Montnegre-Corredor. The title of his presentation is 'Pilot case of adaptative forest management in a priority area: Montnegre Corredor'.

You can participate either in person or online: the choice is yours!

Please note that the 23rd will be devoted to theoretical presentations in Toulouse, while the 24th consists of a field trip to discover the STePRIME initiative in Bagnères de Luchon: the first mountain territory in the Pyrenees that has developed a multi-risk strategy for the management and prevention of natural and climatic risks at a local level.
