CREAF is seeking a research technician or postdoctoral researcher for developing the CREAF contribution to the EEA Contract in support to the EEA-RTD Service Level Agreement (SLA) on IN_SITU GEO project (Mainstreaming GEOSS Data Sharing and Management Principles in support of Europe’s environment), with ref. EEA/DIS/R0/21/016, and financed by the European Union.A full-time contract is offered, with a planned incorporation in March 2022 with an initial duration of 9 month, and could be extended for 2 more years, depending on funding and performance. The salary offered is 30.471,75€ gross per year, for a postdoctoral profile, or 23.700,25€ gross per year, for a technician profile.
TASKS- General support to the activities within the GEO Data-WG in-situ subgroup work plan, including the accessibility of in-situ data by GEO Work Programme Activities, including:
- Update of relevant guidelines of the GEO Data Sharing and Management Principles, including their mapping with other relevant data principles such as FAIR, TRUST or CARE;- Study the approach of the Copernicus In Situ Component Information System and others to define, create and and start populating a database of in-situ data requirements, (e.g. temporal and spatial resolution, thematic accuracy). Collect requirements from others.- Design a showcase on capture and store carbon in view of protecting them and restoring them in wet terrestrial ecosystems and other relevant sensitive ecosystems and determine the in-situ data needs and requirements.- Write deliverables that de consortium has to submit to the EEA.- Maintain communication with the relevant project consortium and monitor the project evolution.- Writing scientific literature or produce materials/data supporting the writing process.- Contribute to the promotion of the Grumets research group and to the use of the MiraMon software (desktop, mobile and web).
*The offer is open to technician and postdoctoral researchers; therefore, the tasks will be appropriate according to the profile finally chosen.
REQUIREMENTS- Bachelor degree on Environmental, Biological Sciences, Geography, Informatics, Physics or similar.- Previous participation in a project that has used in-situ data.- Good level of English, written and spoken.- Availability for traveling abroad (when pandemic permits).
ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS- PhD in Environmental, Biological Sciences, Geography, Informatics, Physics or similar- Some level of programming skills in at least one of the following languages: JavaScript, Python, C or similar.- Experience in post doctorate research and development work or supporting research and development.- Training and experience in topics such as Remote Sensing, Data Management, and application of geospatial standards.- Fluency in exposing ideas and discussing in public.- Experience in previous European Union projects.- Building or contribution to web map browsing technologies.- Deep knowledge in geospatial standards (sensors, metadata, data quality web services, APIs).- Careful attention to details.- Working independently but in constant coordination with a team.- Good level of Catalan, written and spoken.
