TECHNICIAN IN SUPPORT TO EUROPEAN GEOSPATIAL PROJECTS

CREAF is seeking a research technician for developing the CREAF contribution to European Union projects related to geospatial information systems, geospatial data management, data processing and data and metadata encoding, digital twins, data spaces and the application and evolution of international standards on in-situ or remote sensing. Main domains of application are (but are not limited to) biodiversity, ecosystems, water and agriculture.

A full-time contract is offered, with incorporation foreseen in December 2022, and will be a contract linked to the budget of the projects described above (“actividades cientifico-técnicas”, according to the Law 14/2011). The salary offered is 27.086€ gross per year. 

TASKS:

- General support to the activities with CREAF participation in European Research projects mainly related to:

     - Big geospatial data visualization and analytics.
     - Application of the FAIR principles and GEO Data Sharing and Management Principles.
     - Geospatial data requirements for in-situ and remote sensing data.
     - Citizen Science data integration.
     - Application of Geospatial standards.
     - Development of geospatial web clients and services.

- Deliver of the work required to fulfill the tasks assigned to CREAF in the project plan.
- Write deliverables that the consortium has to submit in the context of the projects.
- Maintain communication with the relevant project consortium and monitor the project evolution.
- Task of Coordination of the projects.
- Writing scientific literature or produce materials/data supporting the writing process.
- Contribute to the promotion of the Grumets research group and to the use of the MiraMon software (desktop and web).
- Attend project meetings, stakeholder & co-design meetings, Advisory Board meetings and thematic conferences.
- Apply geospatial standards and contribute to their development.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in Environmental, Biological Sciences, Geography, Informatics, Physics or similar.
- Previous participation in European Union funded projects using in-situ data and applying the Data Management Principles.
- Good level of English, written and spoken.
- Availability for traveling abroad.

ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS:

- PhD in Environmental, Biological Sciences, Geography, Informatics, Physics or similar.
- Some level of programming skills in at least one of the following languages: JavaScript, Python, C or similar.
- Experience in post doctorate research and development work or supporting research and development.
- Training and experience in topics such as Remote Sensing, Data Management, and application of geospatial standards.
- Fluency in exposing ideas and discussing in public.
- Building or contribution to web map browsing technologies.
- Deep knowledge in geospatial standards (sensors, metadata, data quality web services, APIs).
- Careful attention to details.
- Working independently but in constant coordination with a team.
- Good level of Catalan, written and spoken.

SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA:

1.
