CREAF is seeking a Transfer Officer to work on the SEVERO OCHOA program (2018 SEVERO OCHOA Excellence Centers, ref. CEX2018-000828-S, from the Agencia Estatal de Investigación). CREAF aims at incorporating a Transfer Officer to create the new Knowledge Transfer Service; consolidate, enhance and promote the transfer of knowledge, products and tools of the center; guide researchers on knowledge management and protection (IPR); enhance participation in national and international knowledge transfer activities with public administrations and private companies.
The contract will be full-time (37,5h/weekly), with a planned incorporation in August 2022, with an envisaged duration until 14/12/2023 with the possibility of an extension. The salary offered is 35.550,37€ gross per year.
TASKS:- Develop and lead the institutional knowledge transfer (KTT) plan of CREAF and its intellectual property policy.- Establish a close coordination with related offices (impact, communication, fundraising, international projects…) and their respective strategies.- Identify transferable results and protect them if necessary, bearing in mind its utility, application, and economic or commercial valorization.- Define CREAF's intellectual property policy.- Explore national and international calls and tenders for funding to support knowledge transfer projects.- Establish alliances with administrations and private companies in order to analyze their needs and develop transfer of certain tools, products and/or services. Create a catalogue of the knowledge, services and technologies offered by the center.- Organize specialized courses for researchers (IP), technicians and managers.- Support researchers in the development and improvement of their exploitation strategies within project proposals, including the use of Horizon Results Booster.- Lead a training program, design and promote workshops and seminars to elevate the level of knowledge and tech transfer awareness in our center and regarding the need of fostering the collaboration among CREAF stakeholders, private companies and administration.- Work together with researchers and technicians, at individual level to develop project cases: From idea to product or service.- Perform industry search promoting public-private collaboration in order to support the effective transfer of the portfolio of patents, software and inventions (contracted research, development technology, demonstrators, proof of concept, licenses, ...).- Prepare cooperation agreements (MOU), NDAs, conducting negotiations (VC funding), etc.- Exchange best practices for research and KTT funding and share business opportunities.- General support and guide CREAF teams, including the development of the necessary materials in: research contracts, innovations and transfer & impact including financial, legal, tax, administrative, fundraising and business development.
REQUIREMENTS:- PhD Degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences or other relevant and similar disciplines.- Fluent in English and Spanish or Catalan.- Expert in applying research to innovation in some of the following areas: ecology, forestry, climate change adaptation, soils, ecosystem services, ecosystems restoration, land and biodiversity management.- Proven experience in participating in or understanding the creation of businesses in related sectors.- Experience in working with different stakeholders: private sector, public sector, NGOs or other publics in the environmental or social third sector.- Experience in writing high quality, detailed reports for a range of audiences.- Work experience min. 5 years in similar position (dealing with transfer of knowledge in ecology, Intellectual Property Rights, exploitation through licensing and/or creation of spin-offs).- Experience in assisting with funding applications.
