Ramon Margalef Summer Colloquia “What Ecology can learn from natural and human-induced disturbances – A cross-system view”
Beginning on summer 2014, the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM) will hold the II Ramon Margalef Summer Colloquia, a series of annual two-week summer encounters aimed at recent PhDs and advanced graduate students in Marine Sciences.The Colloquia is organized by the ICM, UPF, UB, UAB, ACOIO and CREAF.
Since this summer 2014 is the 10th anniversary of Ramon Margalef’s pass away, we would like to make this year’s colloquia very special, and the topic, exceptionally, will cross the marine boundary to reach a planet view, under the motto: “What Ecology can learn from natural and human-induced disturbances – A cross-system view”. The colloquia will include theoretical and practical activities, all within this central topic, as well as group discussion sessions.
Dates: 7th July to 18th July 2014
The Colloquia, addressed to advanced doctoral students and recent PhDs, is jointly organized by the Institute of Marine Sciences (http://www.icm.csic.es/ ), the University of Barcelona (UB), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) the Center for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications (CREAF) and the Catalan Association of Oceanographers (http://www.acoio.org). Its main objective is to promote the exchange of ideas between experienced and young promising researchers on this relevant topic .
