Introduction

This project proposes:

  1. To design statistical models for the potential distribution of forest species in different climate change scenarios, on the basis of current distributions or "bioclimatic environments". These models can be represented in the form of an atlas showing suitable climate conditions in different climate change scenarios.

  2. To test the hypothesis of significant species substitution in woody species communities (scrubland and forests) using field sampling in areas which have recently experienced defoliation and death during a period of drought.

  3. To test the hypothesis of non-linear changes in the composition of the plantlet community by means of climate manipulation experiments, for some of which there are time series data available.
