Predoctoral researcher

Anna Ticó i Pifarré

PhD student. Research in high mountain lakes, aquatic ecosystems, populational dynamics and evolutionary ecology.

My name is Anna Ticó i Pifarré, and I am from Lleida. I graduated in Biology from the University of Barcelona and completed a research master's degree in Ecology at Utrecht University, where I focused on the ecological link between the aquatic and terrestrial environments of Dutch peat meadows and the evolutionary ecology of mixotrophic plankton. I have also worked as a technician at CEAB-CSIC, studying the quillworts of high mountain lakes, and at the Arboretum in Lleida, where I maintained the living plant collection and participated in conservation research projects on the Mediterranean steppe. My interests span a wide range of ecological disciplines, with a particular focus on aquatic environments and evolutionary ecology. At CREAF, I am beginning my PhD with an FPU contract from the ministry, linked to the CIANOMONT project. Alongside Marisol Felip and Jordi Catalan, we are studying the ecological background of the cyanobacterial increase in benthic communities of high mountain lakes, a phenomenon observed from the second decade of the 20th century to the present.

In general, I consider myself a curious person who enjoys learning about a variety of topics, including science and history. I also believe in the importance of contributing scientific knowledge at a local community level, which is why I am a member of the botany section of the Institut d'Estudis Ilerdencs in Lleida
