- Strategic plans and personalized advice
- Digital Thematic Cartography
- Environmental Information Systems (SIA)
- Environmental risk studies
The Mediterranean, as one of the regions most vulnerable to global environmental change, faces significant challenges in water availability. This scenario affects not only natural ecosystems, but also agriculture, water bodies and social and economic activities.
At CREAF, we work to design adaptation measures for the lack of water and evaluate the impact of climate change on water resources. Through the study of the water cycle through satellite images and the control of water quality in hydrological basins, we contribute to sustainable and effective management.
- Water and global change
- Wastewater
- Studies of the water cycle by remote sensing
- Water quality and environmental control
At CREAF, we have extensive experience in the protection and rehabilitation of degraded soils, as well as in the reuse of sewage sludge and the incorporation of biochar to restore land affected by extractive activities. Thanks to this experience, we have developed protocols designed to optimize the restoration process, guaranteeing effective and sustainable results.
Our services are intended for professionals involved in the restoration of areas affected by mining, land management, agriculture, waste plant management, and Administration technicians dedicated to soil protection.
- Evaluation of contaminated soils
- Contaminant risk assessment
- Restoration of quarries and other degraded spaces
- Valorization of organic waste as edaphic amendments
- Incorporation of biochar to improve soil health
At CREAF, we collaborate with various entities to prevent forest fires, proposing and testing forest management measures that reduce both the risk and the impact of large fires, including those of the sixth generation. We promote the new culture of fire, which seeks to change the social perception of fires and encourage a more sustainable management of the landscape.
We have a lot of experience in collaboration to plan the management of burnt areas and the establishment of protection strips. Our goals include not only the immediate reduction of fire risk (since growing scrub is often fire-prone), but also the improvement of habitat recovery capacity, taking into account factors such as intensive livestock farming and landscape management.
- Forest fire prevention and management
- Risks and impacts of fire
- Management of burned areas
- Protective strips
Global change is a complex phenomenon that transforms our natural systems. In addition to climate change, this includes land use variation, landscape fragmentation, increased atmospheric CO2 concentration, and biological invasions. The scientific community is working hard to understand the repercussions of these changes on ecosystems.
At CREAF, we contribute our knowledge to manage spaces and natural resources in the face of the global change facing the planet. Among our services, we assess the capacity of forests as carbon sinks, propose measures to mitigate the effects of climate change, and analyze nutrient cycles and their availability.
- Adaptation processes in the use of water and instruments for sustainable management.
- Adaptation processes in the management of ecosystems and tools for the sustainability of biodiversity.
- Adaptation processes in forest management and instruments for forest sustainability.
At CREAF, we carry out comprehensive studies on the functioning of ecosystems and the crucial role played by species, populations and communities of organisms, as well as environmental factors. These studies are fundamental to managing and conserving our planet's biodiversity.
Our services are aimed at experts in the management of protected areas and biological resources, at environmental departments of large companies and at the staff of academic and research institutions in the fields of ecology, environmental biology and sustainability.
- Biodiversity monitoring networks.
- Biodiversity and global change.
- Studies of risks and impacts on biodiversity.
- Relationship between landscape and biodiversity.
- Species tracking.
A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a powerful scientific and technological tool that facilitates the generation and management of digital maps, both thematic and topographical, as well as aerial photographs, satellite images, digital terrain models, and extensive databases. In addition, it allows connection with GPS systems, becoming an essential resource for making informed decisions about territorial dynamics, such as urban growth, forest fires and other risks.
Since 1994, we have developed the Geographic Information System (GIS) MiraMon, which stands out for its wide range of applications, scientific rigor in its implementation and ease of use. This has made it an essential tool for research, management and territorial planning in numerous public institutions, universities and companies in the sector. Its capabilities make the MiraMon an extraordinary instrument for various areas of research and territorial management.
- GIS analysis, modeling and terrain analysis.
- Definition and application of information organization standards.
- Implementation of GIS projects.
- MiraMon geographic information system.
