Career development programs
CREAF mentoring programme pairs postdoctoral researchers with more experienced researchers. During a year, mentors and mentees meet regularly to discuss in a safe and confidential environment issues relating to their professional life, involving the sharing of skills, knowledge, and expertise through developmental conversations, experience sharing, and role modeling. Learn more about the programme here.
- Mentee: Talking with someone helped me to verbalize some internal debates on which direction to take my career.
- Mentee: We did not really know each other before and we do not work together, and this independence/professional detachment is actually ideal (in my opinion) to talk clearly about advantages and disadvantages, strengths and weaknesses.
- Mentor: Through the mentoring program, I realized that many of my professional concerns are surprisingly similar to those of my mentee, even though we are at very different stages in our careers. This insight has been really valuable
- Mentor: Being a mentor in this program has taught me the importance of listening deeply rather than simply thinking about what the answer might be. This approach has impacted my interactions and has been very rewarding.
Our Career Development Workshops provide comprehensive support to early-career researchers, guiding them through well-informed decisions about their future career paths. We cover topics such as exploring career options in academia and beyond, how to prepare a strong CV or mastering interview techniques to increase your chances of landing the job you want.
Career Week is a dynamic series of sessions facilitating connections between CREAF staff with professionals who have navigated diverse career paths after the PhD, both within and outside academia. Attendees gain invaluable insights into various career trajectories, enriching their understanding of available opportunities.
