David Pablo Villalba

Graduate in Biology and Master’s in Ecology from the University of Barcelona, currently working on a hybrid thesis at CREAF with the "Climate change ecolab" group, focusing on mathematical modeling and analysis of complex systems to study optimal mass in amniotes. I have experience in coastal ecosystem restoration and a strong interest in marine ecology.

My name is David Pablo Villalba, and I am from Barcelona. I studied Biology and completed a Master’s in Ecology at the University of Barcelona, focusing on theoretical and marine ecology. I am currently finishing this master’s degree with a hybrid thesis project between UB and CREAF. I am passionate about computational biology and theoretical ecology, with a special interest in mathematical modeling of the natural world and analyzing complex systems. To study this, I work with large databases to formulate and test macroecological hypotheses, making extensive use of programming and mathematical modeling.

Here at CREAF, I will collaborate with the “Climate change ecolab” research group, alongside Jofre Carnicer and Daniel Sol, where we will study different models linking life-history parameters in amniotes with their optimal mass.

I am also very interested in marine ecology and ecosystem restoration, having worked on coastal restoration at El Prat de Llobregat. I enjoy outdoor activities, especially hiking and alpinism, and I also love playing various musical instruments, either solo or with my band.
