Louis Lefebvre

Professor in the Department of Biology at McGill University (Québec, Canada), which he joined after a postdoctoral fellowship with Prof. Richard Dawkins at Oxford University (UK). He has also worked at the Laboratory of Neurophysiology at the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, Pisa (Italy) and at the Chimpanzee Laboratory at the University of Montréal (Canada).

His research focuses on understanding how learned behaviours originate, are maintained and transmitted in animals. Using birds as a study model, he works on behavioural innovation, learning and cultural transmission. Much of his fieldwork is carried out at the Bellairs Research Institute at McGill University in Barbados (Central America) and on feral pigeons in Montreal.
