I have a degree in Geology from the Universitat de Barcelona (2008), a master's degree in Global Change from the Menéndez y Pelayo University (IMEDEA CSIC) and a master's degree in Secondary School Teacher Training from the International University of La Rioja. PhD in Earth Sciences from the Universitat de Barcelona (2004). I am currently a lecturer in the Faculty of Earth Sciences at the University of Barcelona and a researcher at CREAF.

I carried out my thesis at the Geo3BCN-CSIC centre, focused on the use of stratigraphy, geochemistry and biological indicators to reconstruct past environmental and climatic changes from lake and peatland records. As a postdoctoral researcher, I have been studying phosphorus cycling and other soil nutrients under hydrological and geomorphological controls and under the effects of climate and global change. My research has focused on phosphorus cycling in tropical soils and on studying geochemical and geomorphological changes in arctic and subarctic peatlands due to the disappearance of permafrost. My research career has led me to stays at the University of Minnesota (USA), the University of Bergen (Norway) and the University of Greifswald (Germany), and to collaborate with a large international network.

I have been associate professor in the Department of Geology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona from 2018 to 2021. Since 2021 I am a lecturer in the Department of Earth and Ocean Dynamics at the Universitat de Barcelona. I am very interested in science communication and I believe that scientists from disciplines related to climate change can play an important role in a society that must face the challenge of the environmental and climate crisis. Since December 2022 I am a member of the Committee of Experts on Climate Change of the Parliament of Catalonia.
