Oriol Daura Pich
My name is Oriol Daura Pich, and I am from Vilafranca del Penedès (Barcelona). I studied a degree in Environmental Biology at the UAB and later completed a Master's in Environmental Agrobiology at the University of Barcelona. I began my professional experience in Italy, through two internship periods where we studied potential adaptations of Mediterranean forest plants to climate change. Later, I spent 6 years at Futureco Bioscience as the head of the biochemistry and quality control lab, where we worked to identify secondary metabolites with potential biocontrol and/or biofertilizer activity from bacteria and fungi. We also created a new certified laboratory (ISO 17025) for the analysis of fertilizers and pesticides.
A couple of years ago, during a career break in which I participated in a small environmental education program in Brazil, I decided to take on new challenges and joined the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) as a research project manager, where I have worked until now, supporting both pre-award and post-award activities.
Here at CREAF, I will be part of Anabel Sánchez's IMPACT team, contributing and helping researchers and CREAF to ensure that their proposals and projects have a greater societal impact.
In my personal life, I enjoy nature and sustainability, and I have a small garden at home. I am also very fond of music (I play a few instruments), basketball, and consider myself a “board game geek”. Finally, I'm a Casteller of Vilafranca and I've always been interested in popular culture.
