Ecological monitoring of different selvicultural practices in Barcelona province
This projects aims to carry out a long term ecological monitoring of different selvicultural practices to ameliorate the structure and dynamic of Mediterranean-type forests subjected to disturbances (drought, wildfires) or degraded by poor management practices.
The project started in 2003 and evaluates the response to clear-felling or selective-thinning of the tree layer, regeneration and understory. Moreover, the dynamics of the woody debris is also monitored. The different forests monitored include: Aleppo pine (P. halepensis) forests, mixed oak (Quercus sp.) forests and Stone pine (P. pinea) forests.
