PRECIPROD

Importance of precipitation timescales and timing for the productivity of ecosystems in observations and experiments manipulating the precipitation

Exploration of data from observations and from precipitation-reduction experiments to identify the periods of the year when ecosystem productivity is more sensitive to precipitation.

This will be useful to relate the timescales and timing of these periods with the conditionants of the  precipitation-productivity relationship in ecosystems (climate, water storage capacity of the soil, phenology and resistance to water stress vegetation). A more precise identification of these periods is necessary to unravel the magnitude of the legacies resulting from rainfall in previous years but affecting productivity in later years.
