Mosquito Alert

Mosquito Alert: a citizen platform for studying and control mosquitos which transmit global diseases

The Mosquito Alert project is a citizen alert system to investigate, monitor and control the expansion of the two species of mosquito vectors of arboviruses of global significance. With the app Mosquito Alert citizens can help scientists detect adult mosquitoes and their breeding grounds.

Mosquito Alert is a citizen science platform for the research and management of global disease-vector mosquitoes (the Asian tiger mosquito, Aedes albopictus and yellow fever mosquito, Aedes aegypti) that can carry diseases like Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika in. The project will focus on the research, monitor and control of these two species in Spain through the so-called Mosquito Alert platform and mobile app of the same name. In the case of Aedes albopictus, the project focuses on its expansion, while for the yellow fever mosquito, it focuses on its early detection.
