Oriol Lapiedra González

His research interests span a wide range of evolutionary biology, including comparative phylogenetics, behavioural ecology and global change biology. In 2022 he was Severo Ochoa Principal Investigator at CREAF and has been named a National Geographic Explorer. He is also a Junior Leader researcher at la Caixa and a researcher within the Ramon y Cajal fellowship.

He has broad interests in Evolutionary Biology, including Comparative phylogenetics, Behavioral ecology and Global change biology. Since 2022 he has been a Severo Ochoa Principal Investigator at CREAF, the year in which he has been named a National Geographic Explorer, a distinction he also received previously. He is also Junior Leader la Caixa researcher. He did part of his postdoctoral research in Losos lab, at Harvard University (Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology).

His primary goal as a researcher is to shed light on how organisms adapt to environmental changes with a specific focus on the role of animal behavior in this process. His research combines approaches from Behavioral ecology, Evolutionary ecology, and Global change biology. Throughout his scientific career, he has applied these skills to study two main lines of research: unraveling the role of animal behavior in evolution, and investigating how organisms successfully cope with human-induced rapid environmental changes.
