Sentinels of the Forest is a knowledge transfer project that is part of Alerta Forestal, a citizen science initiative that aims to analyze the current state of health of Catalonia's forests and forecast through simulation models such will be the state of health of these forests in the future, taking into account climate change and other environmental changes that are occurring on a global and local scale. The project aims to detect those effects related to the impacts of the drought, the pine processionary, the boxwood caterpillar, winds and snowfall thanks to the observations sent by the participants through an app that is easy to access and use , without the need for them to be experts. With all of the observations, the project builds a map that allows you to visualize where each of the impacts occur and to be able to follow them.
This project is made possible through the collaboration of Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología - Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades.
