Sustainable forest grazing: the mutual benefit between fire prevention management, forest conservation and extensive grazing
In the context of the current climate, ecological and biodiversity loss emergency, building and making visible silvopasture protocols in which a balance is achieved between the ecological, cultural and economic sustainability of the sectors involved can be a key milestone for to the sustainable management of forests.
The main objective of this project is to transfer technical and management knowledge through a series of demonstration activities centered on experimental plots and demonstration itineraries that will allow proposing tools and methodologies to support cattlemen and cattlewomen in a successful and economically beneficial pasture for them , compatible and promoting the conservation of forest biodiversity, the reduction of the risk of fire and the mitigation of climate change. Another very important objective of this project is to advise, guide and spread the word about how to make use of silvopasture, in coordination and with mutual benefit between managers, forest owners and livestock farmers.
