Technician

Carles Batlles Climent

Graduated in Biology from the University of Barcelona in 2004, specializing in botany and Geographical Information Systems (GIS), I carried out various tasks as a technician in various public and private entities until 2009, when I joined CREAF.

I started as a field technician and GIS in the development of forest inventories and the coordination of field teams linked to the Inventari de Boscos Singulars de Catalunya project (IBSC 2007-2010). This task was continued and expanded to more physiological studies of trees within the FUN2FUN project.

Later, expanding knowledge in handling large databases, bibliographic research and integration of these in GIS (PostGreSQL, PostGis, Github and R) to capture and evaluate forest masses in large areas of territory from regional level (Carbostock project, Xarxa de Boscos a Dinàmica Natural) to state level (Life Redbosques and Life Redbosques-Clima) and cross-border (Poctefa-Conectfor).

At the same time, I have specialized in spatial analysis based on LiDAR technology (Light Detection and Ranging) which I have applied in several projects such as Life DEMORGEST, Life BIORGEST and Poctefa-CONECTOR among others. Also developing together with the ICGC (Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia) the "Maps of biophysical variables of Catalonia" for the years 2010 and 2016.

I currently participate in several projects focused on forest management towards forest maturity and resilience to climate change, (Life Redbosques Clima, Green-Risk) as well as in the evaluation of the state of conservation and possible adaptive responses for decision making (Life UNCINATA).
