Scientific research is one of the references that Finland and the Nordic countries have managed to transmit to the world, which has its embryo in an educational innovation at the forefront of Europe. With this horizon, CREAF intervenes in the visit promoted by the iCERCA institution this week in Finland of 7 Catalan research centers with various Finnish public entities. The aim of the trip is to establish alliances and identify new project opportunities.

The Catalan delegation is headed by Lluís Rovira, director of iCERCA. On behalf of CREAF, its director, Joan Pino, and CREAF and CSIC researcher Lluís Brotons are attending. And directors and researchers from the Forest Science and Technology Center of Catalonia are also actively involved (CTFC), the Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG), the Institut de Recerca i Tecnologia Alimentàries (IRTA), the Institut Català d'Investigació Química (ICIQ), the Centre de Recerca en Agrotecnologia (AgroTecnio) and the Centre Internacional de Mètodes Numèrics a l'Enginyeria (CIMNE).

The aim of the trip, promoted by iCERCA institution, is to establish alliances and identify new project opportunities with various Finnish public entities in the field of environmental research and education.

The centers and institutions with which contact will be established are the institute specializing in natural resources LUKE (Natural Resources Institute Finland), the research center focused on the environment SYKE (Finish Environment Institute), the University of Lapland, the European Forest Institute, the research and technology center VTT, as well as the geological and mining institute GTK. Future goals and projects will also be shared with the Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Finnish public research agency Academy of Finland, the digital technology center CSC and the public innovation agency Bussiness Finland.

CREAF has actively participated in twenty European projects together with Finnish research centers. Among others, WQeMS, RESONATE, FORGENIUS, EOSC Focus, Clearing House and the recently launched BioAgora.
