Vulnemap is an initiative driven by the administration (Diputació de Girona) that aims at characterizing the vulnerability of Catalan forests to climate change.
The main objective is to build a cartography that is useful for managers, highlighting the areas and species that are more vulnerable; a regional scale map useful to inform forest management actions in face of ongoing climate change.
This tools combines climate information (precipitation, temperature, radiation, etc.), forest structure (biomass), lithology, and climatic anomalies, with data recorded in the program monitoring the condition of Catalan forests (DEBOSCAT) to develop a statistical model that estimates vulnerability for each 180m pixel.
