We stand in solidarity with Ukraine and condemn the violence

Share

We strongly condemn the armed invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, and join the national and international voices calling for an immediate end to the armed attack and demand respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

This unprecedented situation of violence is completely unjustified and a flagrant violation of international law and human rights that puts global security and stability at risk, including climate action. Equally as climate change and biodiversity loss, armed conflicts know no borders.

We are saddened that the Ukrainian scientists, political actors and activists involved in advancing climate and environmental agendas in Ukraine, including those contributing to the new IPCC report scheduled to be published on February 28th, have been forced to take a step back. At the same time, we acknowledge the courage shown by the Russian scientific community in the publication of its open letter against the war in Ukraine.

We stand in solidarity with the citizens of Ukraine, and with all those who are already suffering and will suffer the negative consequences of this military aggression.

From CREAF we shout loudly, let’s do science and not war!
