Citizen Science and environmental education technician

Laura Force Seguí

Contributing to fostering a more democratic and inclusive approach to research. I promote meaningful citizen engagement in research, creating value for both society and the scientific community.

I hold a BSc degree in Biology and Philosophy (University of Barcelona, UB, 2017 and 2020, respectively), and a Master's degree in Terrestrial Ecology (Autonomous University of Barcelona, 2019). Since 2016, I have been involved in a wide range of environmental citizen science projects as well as research on lichen diversity.

I am an associate lecturer in the Botany and Mycology section of the BEECA Department at UB since 2021 and since April 2022, I am Citizen Science and Environmental Education technician within the Research Impact Office at CREAF.

My three main objectives are to implement an inclusive model of citizen participation in research, to promote and drive an Citizen Science Practice Community of researchers at CREAF and to enhance the impact of citizen science research on individuals, communities, and institutions. I am also dedicated to promoting research-informed environmental education in primary and secondary schools, as well as organizations supporting environmental educators.
