A new method developed by CREAF and the Autonomous University of Barcelona allows the automatic processing of thousands of satellite images taken by Landsat without manual intervention or the need of atmospheric data. 

The jury of ClickFaunaiFlora photographic contest decided to award the first prize to photo "Salto de la cabra". Others photos with a frog drinking Martini and a very beautiful sunflower  have recived the second and thrid price. 

We offer a Ph.D. position within teh project "Spatial heterogeneity in plant-pollinator communities: effects on interaction and consequences to pollination function". (Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, project CGL2013-41856-P).

Of the 243 ranked Spanish entities, four indicators place CREAF within the first 30 ranked positions. For those indicators which are not dependent on the size of the institution, CREAF is among the 50 best national institutions. 

A recent study from CREAF, CTFC, and the UAB warns that if the continuity of forest vegetative cover over large parts of the territory is not reduced with urgency, catastrophic fires will become more and more common. Allowing some spontaneous fires to burn under controlled conditions could help to resolve this problem.

20 years of data accumulated by the Butterfly Monitoring Schemes of the United Kingdom and Catalonia have served to demonstrate that butterflies which live at higher latitudes suffer more ups and downs in population size.
